I have been a member of ICIS since 1998 when I started my postdoctoral training at the Cleveland Clinic. There, I began my studies on elucidating the signal transduction pathway of type I Interferons (IFN-I) in T cells. In 2003, I relocated to the National Cancer Institute to start my first independent research lab where I continued my research on defining molecular mechanisms driving the antitumor effects of type IFN-I. In 2008, I moved my lab to Temple University where I have built a strong research program on the study of the transcription factor STAT2 and its role in cancer and autoinflammatory diseases. Throughout the years, ICIS has been instrumental in shaping my scientific career by offering a network of supportive colleagues who share the same scientific interests. As an active member, I have served on the Membership Committee and the Awards Committee of ICIS. Currently, I serve on the editorial board for the journals JICR (Journal of Interferon & Cytokine Research) and Cytokine and since 2022, I am Associate Editor for Frontiers in Immunology. By serving on the Nominations Committee, I will bring my experience to support the mission and vision of ICIS. In my role as educator and scientist, I am dedicated to recruiting and building the next pipeline of young scientists entering the field of cytokine research.
