The International Cytokine and Interferon Society is a worldwide scientific nonprofit organization with the central mission to advance scientific research and disseminate knowledge of the immunological sciences in the broader interest of public health. Advances in cytokine biology – in significant part through your research efforts – have led to fundamental research innovations, new diagnostic tools, and therapeutic innovations that have reduced suffering and saved countless lives. Groundbreaking discoveries that prevent infections, produce life-saving drugs and vaccines, alleviate chronic and autoimmune diseases, and enable cancer immunotherapies have been made by our members. There is no doubt that your excellence will continue to create new medicines and research breakthroughs to benefit humankind.
Global changes are occurring that many fear will undermine science, cause distress for scientists, and promote junk science in support of conflicted interests. We, current and former members of the Society’s Executive Leadership, wish to assure you that we remain committed to supporting evidence-based, rigorous, and unconflicted science, and to the training and mentoring of the future generation of cytokine scientists.
We unconditionally and wholeheartedly support everyone in our scientific community across the Earth. Our strength is in our spirit of community, and we encourage everyone to reach out to support one another, whether you are navigating particular challenges or just need someone to talk to.
