Join an ICIS committee to be a part of building the scientific home for all things cytokine research related and determining the future direction of the Society.
My being involved with the society was considered a plus by NIH for my tenure and promotion. It demonstrated that I was involved with the international scientific community. 40 years later, it is still of value for new tenure tracks to demonstrate that they are not in a silo and are interacting with the broader scientific community.
