2024 Elected Leaders

Dr. Claudia Nold Ph.D., Chairperson of the Nominations Committee, is pleased to announce the results of the 2024 ICIS Leadership elections! We extend our congratulations to the following members who will soon step into their new roles:

Secretary:
Susan Carpenter, Ph.D., University of California, Santa Cruz, United States
Susan Carpenter has been re-elected as Secretary and remains committed to contributing to ICIS. She shares, “I am excited to continue serving as Secretary of ICIS for another term and contribute to a community that has been so supportive of my career. It is incredibly rewarding to work alongside diverse individuals from around the world.”

Council Members:
Judith Allen, Ph.D., University of Manchester, United Kingdom
Judith Allen’s dedication and extensive experience across multiple sectors will be invaluable as she serves another term on the Council, helping to guide the future of ICIS.

Joanna Groom, Ph.D. Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, Australia
Joanna Groom is eager to join the ICIS Council and is focused on building research networks and supporting the independent development of early-career researchers (ECRs) within the ICIS community. She states, “I’m excited to join the ICIS Council to help build research networks between our annual meetings and identify ways to sponsor the independent development of ECR ICIS members.”

Council Member for Inclusion & Training:
Rami Bechara, Ph.D., Saclay University, France
Rami Bechara, reflecting on his goals, expresses his commitment: “I am honored to be elected to the Council for Inclusion and Training. I look forward to contributing to our community’s growth and fostering an inclusive environment for all.”

Nominations Committee Members:
Rune Hartmann, Ph.D., Aarhus University, Aarhus, Denmark
A long-standing ICIS member since his graduate studies in the late 1990s at Aarhus, Rune Hartmann brings over 30 years of experience to the Nominations Committee and will continue to contribute his extensive knowledge to the organization.

Lydia Lynch, Ph.D., Princeton University, Princeton, NJ, United States
Lydia Lynch, who has overcome numerous challenges to achieve her dream of becoming a scientist, believes that talent thrives in an environment where people feel a sense of belonging. She values ICIS as a supportive network that helps everyone succeed despite obstacles.

On behalf of the Nominations Committee, Dr. Nold extends her gratitude to all the candidates for their willingness to serve the ICIS community and to the members who participated in the voting process.

2024 Nominations Committee:

Stephanie Flores Managing Director
ICIS Co-Managing Director Supports the leadership and governance of the Society and represents the organization. Works with the Governing Council to set and implement the strategic direction and ensure the organization meets its objectives. It is also my responsibility to ensure compliance with the Society's bylaws, policies and all applicable regulations.
