The Role:
Moderna is seeking applicants for Senior Research Associate for position based at its Cambridge, MA site. The individual in this role will support platform and discovery programs through the development and execution of bioanalytical assays, interfacing with internal as well as external stakeholders (partners, CROs). This position will contribute to the nonclinical team through the performance and development of ligand binding assays. The individual will work with scientists within the discovery Bioanalytics team and broader nonclinical group as well as other functional groups to ensure the highest level of quality of these assays. The successful candidate must have experience in assay development specifically hands on experiences in ELISA, qPCR, MSD and other bioanalytical methods applicable to biomolecules.

Here’s What You Will Do

Design, execute and analyze bioassays focused on mRNA detection using bDNA and/or RT-qPCR and protein detection using ELISA and MSD
Lead bioanalytical testing using established methods or help design new methods as needed to generate high quality data to support internal studies.
Work closely with more senior colleagues and lead method development and troubleshooting for discovery programs.
Lead method development and qualification as needed.
Provide summary presentations and detailed reports to internal and external stake holders.
Participate in the drug development project management nonclinical activities.
Establish quantitative methods to detect biologically relevant molecules.
Generate, analyze, interpret, and present high quality, timely experimental data to multidisciplinary teams. Ensure that data generated internally and externally are scientifically rigorous, in line with study design, regulatory expectations and follows industry’s best practice.
Responsible for multiple assay-related aspects for platform and development programs
Be accountable for all experimental and project related needs assigned
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table

BS/MS degree in biology, immunology, biochemistry, pharmacology or a related field.
BS with 2-5 years of experience or MS with 1-3 years hands on experience in assay development
Hands on experiences in bioassay development and knowledge of assay qualification/validation aspects
Excellent hands on using ELISA, Flow Cytometry, qPCR, PCR, ddPCR and MSD
Hands on experiences with cell culture techniques, analytical methods (e.g. UV-VIS), DNA/RNA extraction, protein quantitation (BCA/Bradford/A280).
Ability to develop methods, write concise research protocols and synthesize data in accordance with good laboratory practice.
Practical understanding of fit-for-purpose method qualification to support relevant studies.
Knowledge of biochemistry, drug development, pharmacology and regulatory (a plus)
Ability and desire to troubleshoot assays
Strong ability to analyze and communicate complex results through written and oral communication
Proven ability to develop and work independently and to collaborate cross-functionally to accomplish goals in a timely manner
