The focus of the work will be a combination of approaches including: Investigate the role of glycan-lectin interactions and altered glycosylation in mediating cellular processes central to immune regulation; multi-omics approaches to study host immune response to HIV infection; and utilize humanized mouse model of HIV infection to examine the role of host glycosylation in viral pathogenies.

Preferred candidates would have experience in: translational research (working with human clinical specimens); glycomic, proteomics, and transcriptomic analyses; glycoimmunology; tissue culture; molecular cloning; flow cytometry; cellular immunology; and/or expertise working with humanized murine models.

The Wistar Institute is one of the “Martin Delaney Collaboratory: Towards an HIV-1 Cure” funded sites (BEAT-HIV Collaboratory) and is part of the Penn Center for AIDS Research (Penn CFAR) with access to state-of-the-art facilities and an outstanding intellectual environment that enable faculty and staff members to conduct cutting-edge research.
