Studying transcriptional regulation post interferon

Postdoctoral position – Dittmann lab

We are looking for an energetic, highly motivated new team member to join our small growing group dedicated to understanding antiviral barriers in the respiratory tract.  Initiative, communication skills, innovative problem solving and enthusiasm for science are a must.

PhD in molecular biology, immunology and/or virology is required.  Additional experience in transcriptomics, cell signalling, in vivo infection models, microscopy and project management will be advantageous.

The Dittmann laboratory is interested in dissecting innate immune responses to virus infections of the airways.  We are working with a panel of clinically relevant viruses, including influenza virus, respiratory syncytial virus, parainfluenza virus, and adenovirus. Using high-content microscopy, we are screening for human immune factors that inhibit one or more of these viruses. We then interrogate their mode of antiviral action by transcriptome profiling, viral life cycle studies, and/or structure-function analysis.  We have previously identified  a novel transcription factor that inhibits every virus we have ever tested in the laboratory.  We are now characterizing this transcription factor’s activation pathway, its transcriptional profile, its gene expression dynamics, and antiviral potency in mouse models.

The position offers a competitive salary and exposure to a rich, inter-disciplinary scientific environment at NYU Medical School and the New York City area.

To apply, please send 1) your CV and 2) your cover letter stating your research interest and career goals, 3) your expected availability date, and 4) contact information for three faculty references to Dr. Meike Dittmann [email protected]
